  • What’s the difference between the “Profiles with ANY of these words” and “Profiles MUST have these words”?

“Profiles with ANY of these words” means that any of the terms you type in will return a search, but not all need to be present on the same profile for the profile to be returned in the search. This is also known as an OR statement.

“Profiles MUST have these words” means that ALL of the terms type in that field must be present on the same profile for it to return a search. This is also known as an AND statement.

For example if I am looking for an SVP of Business Development:

  • In “Profiles with ANY of these words” I will type in any variation of how the title might appear:

    • Vice President

    • VP

    • SVP

    • EVP

  • In “Profiles MUST have these words”, I want to make sure that every profile on my list has the following word:

    • Business Development

  • In “EXCLUDE profiles with these words”, I’ll make sure to exclude anybody with lower titles on their profile:

    • Junior

    • Associate

  • What does [firstName] mean when sending messages?

Including [firstName] in a message on Machine Sourcer allows you to send personalized messages to hundreds of people in under 60 seconds. Just type [firstName] wherever you want the recipient’s name to appear, and Machine Sourcer will include each recipient’s name in your message.

Sending this:

“Hi [firstName], I saw you are a leader in the sourcing automation space. Would love to connect!”

Will return this:

“Hi David, I saw you are a leader in the sourcing automation space. Would love to connect”

“Hi Lauren, I saw you are a leader in the sourcing automation space. Would love to connect”

“Hi Corinne, I saw you are a leader in the sourcing automation space. Would love to connect”

“Hi James, I saw you are a leader in the sourcing automation space. Would love to connect”

Recommendations:

  • Keep it personal

By always including a [firstName] and a personalized connection request, you’re more likely to get people to accept your request and LinkedIn is less likely to pick you up as a “bot”.

  • Don’t overdo it

Don’t go crazy on building giant list and sending out automated connections on LinkedIn. This is just a prototype. Instead, build multiple list and automate your outreach over a period of a couple days.
